Personal Trainer Overview

I begin each session with mobility work and a warm-up to get your heart rate up, and prepare it for the workout ahead. The rest is all dependent on your goals! Since many people have more than one fitness goal, I usually begin with the primary workout designed to help you achieve your most short-term goal, and finish off with a secondary workout to work slowly towards other, more distant goals!

Training Philosophy

I take what I have learned from playing sports my whole life, from the Marine Corps, and from CrossFit, and blend their training styles to create a varied but laser-focused program. Success largely depends on a combination of nutrition and lifestyle changes made in manageable, realistic increments, and never allowing a "zero defect" mentality. I like to incorporate an exercise progression that mixes stability/balance work, calisthenics, HIIT, circuit training, and weightlifting to create a balanced athlete. Even when working towards a specific goal, I always try to switch things up to ensure the body doesn't become complacent, and the client doesn't become bored. After all, who will want to stick with a fitness regimen if it's not fun?

Bio

My passion for fitness has shaped my life since I was just a boy, even though I didn't realize at the time how much I held it dear. My enthusiasm led me to play sports throughout my childhood, do martial arts for 7 years, and even compelled me to pursue a commission in the Marine Corps.

Not realizing that fitness was more than a hobby for me, I had planned on becoming a history professor after the military; but as I was about to enter the civilian work force, I had an internal crisis when I realized that I didn't really want to do that for a career. Luckily, my wife understood me better than myself, and helped me understand that my true passion lied with helping others lead healthier lives!

I have been writing group and individual fitness programs since 2011, developing my fellow students with Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets; preparing Marine Officer Candidates for Officer Candidate School; leading boot camps with Camp Gladiator; and instructing CrossFit classes. I have loved every aspect of training and the people I get to meet, and there is no feeling as fulfilling as when a client reaches their fitness goals!
