Personal Trainer Overview

I use a lot of circuit training for weight loss clients. I begin with a mix of pushing, pulling, and leg exercises back to back with little rest. Later in the workout, I turn to cardio. I plan a wide variety of cardio from battle ropes to squat jumps to sprints, depending on a client's goals and limitations. I finish off with an intense core workout. I am very particular about form and safety. I will push you to your limits but with respect to any particular injuries you may have. I provide motivation and accountability not just the hour we train, but outside of our sessions as well. I feel what sets me apart from a lot of trainers is I can relate to most people. I struggled with my weight for several years, sometimes being overweight, most times being underweight and weak. I was never a super athlete. I just had determination to be the best version of myself and found strength training and cardio was something anybody could do, no matter how athletic you are.

Training Philosophy

I believe in a mix of hard work and healthy sustainable nutrition,not the latest diet fad. There is no substitute for that. Sure some people drop weight significantly from the fad diets, but the drop is not sustainable, and most people end up gaining the weight back. I study the latest gadgets and make sure they are useful for your success rather than just some over-hyped gimmick that will just collect dust. There are mixed opinions about this but I believe in avoiding machine weights (except in the case of working around an injury or to correct a significant muscular imbalance) because they isolate one part of the body, as opposed to using free weights or bodyweight exercises, which recruit several muscles at once and give you a much better overall workout. I also work a lot on corrective exercise, which may not be an initial goal of many clients, but since America has become such a sitting culture with work and commutes, most people discover they need it. I also personal train because of personal experience, seeing how a healthy lifestyle changed my life and seeing how seeing family members suffer due to some preventable diseases placed me on a personal mission to help people avoid them down the road. I make clients see the big picture, not just the scale, which I feel is about third or fourth in the rank of your success. Fat loss is more important, then next would be how your clothes are fitting and your appearance. Third would be reducing pain and helping you move around better than you may have been for years.
